INFLUENCE OF SIDE WORK OF FLANGES ON CHANGE OF THEIR HEIGHT IN ROUGHING CLOSED GIRDER PASSES

The results of mathematical modeling of metal flow in rough dead beam pass using finite elements method are given. Distribution of stresses, displacements and deformations in the transversal and longitudinal sections of the pass is shown. Integral parameters of the distortion particularly an increase of the height in open and dead flanges as well as pulling down the height of the flanges depending on side reduction of the pass flanges are determined. It is found out that with increase of flange side reduction the height increase of open and dead flanges is reduced. For I-beams production with high accuracy with stable dimensions over the width of the flanges the rough dead beam passes must be designed with minimum side reduction of flanges whereby the first passes can provide high flanges and ensure reliable height deformation in fine control passes. It is recommended these calibers to be designed considering the average strain index over thickness of open and dead flanges not more than 1.3.References
