Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Mechanics),
Department of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Ukraine,
Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Institute of Mechanical Engineering
Participation in the work of collegiate of the NAS of Ukraine
The scientific activity of Mykola Bobyr is focused on the development of new equations of state and fracture criteria. He is one of the founders of a scientific school in the field of solid mechanics of deformable bodies, aimed at creating methods for calculating the load-bearing capacity of structural elements with consideration of distributed damage and fracture. He was the first to formulate new equations of state and fracture criteria that are used to assess the stress–strain state and service life of machines and structures in the aerospace and energy sectors throughout their life cycle.
In recent years, he has been working on the development of computer-integrated technologies for the design and manufacture of individualized endoprostheses made of new composite materials, taking into account the consequences of gunshot and traumatic injuries. He proposed a phenomenological model and a load-bearing capacity criterion for a biocompatible composite implant structure of individual application, considering the strength characteristics and distributed fracture of bone tissue.
Mykola Bobyr is a member of the Committee for the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine, the National Committee of Ukraine for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Deputy Head of the “Mechanics” Section of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, a member of the Scientific Coordination Council of the Section of Physical, Technical, and Mathematical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the Bureau of the Department of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
He has published more than 220 scientific works, including 12 monographs, textbooks, and teaching manuals, holds 18 patents and authors’ certificates, and has supervised the training of 3 Doctors of Sciences and 11 Candidates of Sciences (Ph.D.).
