Ball bearings are widely used elements in various rotating machinery systems and thus, as a potential source of vibration, they are  an object of numerous experimental and theoretical studies. The vibration analysis is a commonly used method for diagnostic and condition  monitoring of ball bearings. The following  paper represents a 3-dimensional dynamic model of a ball bearing for fault simulation. The model takes into account the influence of axial load and misalignment of raceway. Simulation results obtained on several bearing types had  shown that the variation of this parameters leads to a significant change of the vibration signal structure. In some cases this changes could  lead to a wrong classification with standard techniques like envelope analysis. The paper shows some simulation results and studies these  dependencies.
